About

Enjoy carriage rides in Windsor Great Park with Ascot Carriages

Carriage tours start from outside The Savill Garden Visitor Centre at The Savill Garden, Wick Lane, Englefield Green, TW20 0UJ (4 miles south of Windsor Castle).

The award-winning Savill Garden Visitor Centre is the main visitor centre for Windsor Great Park with cafe, shop plus all the visitor facilities and plenty of parking.

The carriage can be found one minute's walk to the right of The Savill Garden Visitor Centre by a cream house, with our sign to mark the spot.

Travel through this beautiful royal park away from traffic, and relax and unwind as you discover the area from the comfort of an elegant horse-drawn carriage.

Your carriage driver/guide can provide history and lesser-known facts about the area.

We operate on fine days between 11am and 2pm, on selected dates all year round, weather permitting.

Rides are weather permitting; either pay cash on the day or bank transfer.

Reservations are essential, or call on the day before 10am in case of cancellations.

We request payment by bank transfer on the day, once we know the ride is going ahead.

Our country carriage has 6 seats but for weight and your comfort we accommodate max 4 adults, or 2 adults/child combination (60stone/380kg limt).

Have a photo taken with our family-friendly carriage horse and our historic carriage which was previously used by the late Lieutenant-Colonel Sir John Miller, Queen Elizabeth II's Equerry and horsemaster for 26 years.

We have easy-rise steps and handrails for the less mobile.

Ascot Carriages is a small family business fully insured to offer a personal and professional service including luxury carriages for weddings, film work and exclusive carriages to Royal Ascot.

Carriage rides from The Savill Garden

Just follow the tourist signs to The Savill Garden on A308 from Windsor, A30 from Bagshot or M25 Junction 13.

Windsor Explorer 30-minute tour: £90 per carriage.

Windsor Explorer 1-hour tour: £180 per carriage.

Romantic wedding proposal and special occasion drives

What could be more romantic than travelling on an elegant horse-drawn carriage and stopping by a beautiful 18th-century lake?

We believe we have one of the best places in the country to propose, hidden away in the heart of Windsor Great Park.

Take a stroll to the Georgian footbridge with diamond-patterned balustrade and decking, the ideal place to go down on bended knee.

Call Jo on 07811 543019 to see how we arrange the surprise.  The back-up plan – should the weather prevent the carriage operating – is a covered area in The Savill Garden; a bridge by the stream all ready for you!

£180 per carriage.
