Royal Windsor has a host of iconic sites and fabulous filming opportunities.
For all filming enquiries in the Royal Borough please email filmunit@rbwm.gov.uk.
Alternatively you can visit the council’s filming webpage for further information on how to apply for filming.
If you're looking to film at a number of venues and would like help with putting together an itinerary, contact our Visitor Manager, Julia White and our media team at Tourism Angles.
Subject to permissions, crews can film on pre-agreed streets and highways.
These locations allow filming of world-famous icons such as Windsor Castle exteriors, Eton College exteriors, Changing the Guard and Windsor Castle from the riverside.
Crews interested in filming will need to complete an online filming request form, giving plenty of lead in time. A copy of your public liability insurance will also be required (minimum £5 million).
All requests to record and film at Windsor Castle are subject to approval from the Royal Collection’s Press Office.
To submit a request, please read the Filming and Recording Guidelines and complete a Filming Application Form - both can be accessed here.
Applications need to contain full details of how the proposed filming will fit into the programme, exact locations (interiors and exteriors), any proposed pieces to camera, any interviews and preferred dates for filming. Crews must hold valid public liability insurance. Requests must be received at least one month before the preferred date of filming.
Requests to film at St George's Chapel should be made to the Chapter Clerk. They are subject to approval and also subject to the daily commitments in and around the Chapel (including but not limited to three services every day). No filming of Royal tombs is allowed. Applications should include full details of the proposed filming as above. Crews must hold valid public liability insurance and all individuals will be required to pass security clearance.
The Crown Estate arranges filming from Windsor Great Park including The Savill Garden, Valley Gardens and Virginia Water. To seek permission to film, please telephone 01753 847519.
A special 'fast track' procedure is in place for small press crews filming on The Long Walk in Windsor Great Park. Three working days' notice is required and filming can only take place during weekdays (excl. Bank Holidays). Some restrictions apply. To discuss your location brief with a member of the Crown Estate team, please fill out the 'Filming and photography application for commercial use' form on their Contact Us page.
