With top attractions that include Windsor Castle and LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort and world-class events like Royal Ascot, road approaches into the Royal Borough can get very busy, particularly during high season.
Our advice is to always pre-plan your car journey, allow yourself plenty of time to travel and take advantage of schemes such as Windsor’s Park and Ride.
🚘 M4: Exit Junction 6 for Windsor, junction 8/9 for Maidenhead*
🚘 M3: Exit Junction 3 (Bagshot)
🚘 M25: Exit Junction 13 (Egham)
🚘 M40: Exit Junction 4 (Marlow) or junction 2 (Beaconsfield)
* The ongoing M4 junctions 3-12 smart motorway project will necessitate a number of motorway closures and diversions. Please visit Highways England M4 junctions 3-12: smart motorway page for a full list of dates and more detail and please allow extra time for your journey to the Royal Borough when these closures and diversions are in place.
Please follow all the LEGOLAND signs on the local roads as this will get you to the resort quicker. Dependent on your direction of travel, please use one of the following routes: M3 (Junction 3); M25 Northbound (clockwise) traffic should exit at Junction 13; M4 (Junction 6).

The guard march takes place all year round in Windsor town centre. The guard march schedule changes on a monthly basis. Please note that traffic is stopped when the guards make their way between the barracks on Sheet Street, along the High Street and into the Castle.
Traffic Wardens and Police control traffic on the following approaches to the centre of town: Thames Street, the junction of Victoria Street and Sheet Street and near the junction of Frances Road and Sheet Street.
Traffic is usually stopped between 10:45am and 11:00am (as the guards march to the Castle) and between 11:15am and 11:30am (as they return to the Barracks).
