Coming to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead by road? You will find a range of multi-storey and open-air car parks plus a 74-space coach park in Windsor town centre.
If you are coming to the Royal Borough to enjoy our attractions, events, shopping and dining for the day then look out for the long-stay car parks for the best-value all-day parking.
Visitors are advised to use one of the long-stay car parks in Windsor including:
These car parks are all less than 10 minutes’ walk to Windsor Castle and the town centre and are much cheaper than the short-stay car parks in the middle of town.
The car parks in Maidenhead are all very central to shops and restaurants in town. You’ll also find parking at Maidenhead Riverside close to Boulters Lock.
Variable message signs on roads around the towns show live information on which car parks have spaces.
Visit the Royal Borough parking pages for more information on the council-run car parks in the Windsor, Eton, Maidenhead and Datchet area as well as Park and Ride options at Legoland, Home Park and King Edward VII car parks where you can park your car and get the bus into town. You’ll find full information including maps, locations, number of spaces, disabled parking, opening times, parking charges and how to pay (including online options).
View our map of Windsor council-run car parks. Privately-operated car parks are also available.
Visit our Parking in Windsor page for more information on multi-storey and open-air car parks, coach parking, RingGo touch-free parking, Park and Ride, the Legoland Shuttlebus, parking for disabled visitors, a link to AccessAble access guides, and Windsor Shopmobility.

Motorists using Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead car parks can park completely touch free by using the UK’s no.1 parking app, RingGo. By paying for parking quickly and easily on your phone, there is no longer any need to handle coins or queue up to use the parking machine. In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, motorists are understandably wary about having to touch coins or parking machines. So, to keep everyone as safe as possible, the council is recommending the use of RingGo to pay for parking instead.
The fastest and simplest way of using RingGo is by downloading the free app from the App Store or Google Play Store on your smartphone. Just register with a few details and enter the following information to start your parking session:
Then, just hit the “Start” button in the app to start your parking session. When you’ve finished parking, simply hit the “Stop” button on your session and you’ll be charged for the time you’ve been parked. Be sure to hit the “Stop” button when you’re done parking to avoid being overcharged!
Once you’ve started your parking session, Civil Enforcement Officers can see that you’re parked with RingGo by checking each vehicle registration number on their handheld devices, so there’s no need to display a ticket and you’re actively helping the environment with less paper too.
If you’re not a smartphone user, you can call 0161 634 0340 (shown on signs) to pay for your parking through RingGo. You’ll be able to register and extend your parking touch free using the same details as via the app. If you pre-register online at RingGo.co.uk it makes your call to park much quicker.
You can also choose to add RingGo’s text receipts and reminders, confirming the starting and stopping of your session. There’s a small charge for each of these messages but you can opt-in or out at any time.
On-street parking: Blue Badge holders can park in shared use bays (resident and pay and display), on-street pay and display areas and limited waiting areas for the maximum time as displayed on the signage present. There is a maximum stay of three hours in any on-street disabled parking bay. Blue Badge holders are not permitted to park in resident-only bays, taxi bays, bus stops, loading bays/zones and clearways.
Off-street parking: Blue Badge holders can park free of charge in any council-run car park when displaying a valid Blue Badge. Please adhere to the maximum stated time for each car park as outlined on the tariff board and ensure your vehicle is parked within the bay markings.
Destination Access Guides for Windsor and Eton, developed thanks to a partnership between the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead and AccessAble, are now available and include a section on parking in Windsor and Eton. VisitWindsor has worked with AccessAble, the UK’s leading provider of detailed disabled access information, to produce the guides which help residents and visitors with access requirements to plan their journeys to and around both towns. Visit AccessAble's website or download the AccessAble App.
We would encourage visitors to take advantage of Windsor's Park and Ride facilities. Park your car and catch the bus into the town centre. You will find Park and Ride at Legoland, Home Park, Romney Lock and King Edward VII car parks.
The Legoland shuttle service operates between Windsor town centre and Legoland.
Visitors and residents love Windsor's Guard March and watching the soldiers and their band march from their barracks to Windsor Castle is one of Windsor's great attractions! Please note the traffic is stopped when the guards make their way between the barracks on Sheet Street, along the High Street and into the Castle.
The guards march on different days of the week, depending on the time of year. Visit our Changing the Guard page for more information on the guard march schedule.
Traffic wardens and police control traffic on the following approaches to the centre of town: Thames Street, the junction of Victoria Street and Sheet Street and near the junction of Frances Road and Sheet Street.
Traffic is usually stopped between 10.45am and 11am (as the guards march to the Castle) and between 11.15am and 11.30am (as they return to the barracks).

We want you to have a great time in the Royal Borough and to return to find your parked vehicle exactly as you left it.
When you park up, take a moment to make sure all possessions are stowed away out of sight and that all windows are closed and doors locked.
