Nestled in the heart of picture-perfect Bray, The Crown combines traditional warmth and welcome with exceptional food and superb service. While it may be small, The Crown boasts an almighty history, dating all the way back to the 16th century. The low-ceilings, exposed oak beams and open fires have withstood a lot in their time including revolutions, flooding and warfare - when the building was used as an army recruitment office - and its colourful history can be pieced together through the variety of artwork which adorn the walls.
The Crown is open from 11.30am, seven days a week and it is a one-stop shop for casual diners, dog walkers and drinkers alike. Whether you’re a devoted local or first-time visitor, enjoy restorative morning coffees, memorable lunches, delicious dinners and unrivalled al fresco dining in the expansive garden and courtyard.
The Crown at Bray has two prestigious AA Rosettes to its name and Head Chef, Scott Smith, has made a name for himself in some of the UK’s most renowned kitchens. His menu is bursting with local produce and no two days are the same. Working closely with local suppliers including Chiltern Lamb, Chiltern Heritage Orchard and Made for Drink, you can always expect the very best.
Ideally located just a stone’s throw away from some of the most exciting breweries and distillers, including Windsor & Eton Brewery and Henley Distillery, in the country, delicious drinks are just as important as fantastic food. Co-owner and oenophile Nigel Sutcliffe has gone that step further, expertly selecting some of the finest English wines which confidently sit alongside everyone’s favourites from the Old and New Worlds.
Whether you’re arriving by rail, river or road, The Crown at Bray is a must-visit when you’re in the mood for exceptional service, brilliant food and lashings of British pub charm.
