Private conservator and former Book Binder to Queen Elizabeth II, Richard Day, will deliver a fascinating illustrated lecture and demonstration of the skills involved in book binding and conservation.
After a brief break for refreshments, Assistant Archivist, Anne Courtney, will talk about the lost medieval library of St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.
The event will finish by 5pm then all are welcome to round off the afternoon by attending Choral Evensong in St George’s Chapel (free of charge), starting at 5.15pm. Just ask staff for directions.
All profits from ticket sales will support the Adopt a Book conservation scheme. The scheme helps us to preserve the unique collection of rare books in the Chapter Library of St George’s Chapel, repairing the damage of centuries of dust, dirt, insects, and the inevitable wear and tear of use.
PLEASE NOTE: We will also need some additional information from you at the time of booking. Due to Windsor Castle’s high security level, and the fact that the tour takes place in non-visitor areas, we need to ask you for full details in order to get security clearance to allow you access. Under GDPR regulations this information will only be used for this purpose and will not be retained. This therefore means that we may need to ask you for it again should you attend another event. Thank you for your understanding.
